Radiesse is a Health Canada-authorized prescription injectable made from calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres suspended in a water-based gel. It does two things simultaneously: it provides immediate structural support and volume at the injection site, and over time stimulates the body's collagen production as the CaHA is gradually resorbed. This dual action makes Radiesse distinct from both pure hyaluronic acid fillers (which provide volume but limited biostimulation) and pure biostimulators like Sculptra (which stimulate collagen but add no immediate volume). Radiesse is most suited to clients who want visible correction now alongside longer-term structural improvement. It is most commonly used for the mid-face, jawline, hands, and decolletage.

Who is and is not a good candidate for Radiesse
Radiesse suits clients who want both immediate structural correction and longer-term collagen support. Like all injectables, it is not appropriate for every client

Good candidates: clients with moderate facial volume loss in the mid-face or lower face; clients who want visible correction on the day of treatment alongside longer-term skin quality improvement; clients treating the hands or decolletage where thin skin and collagen loss are the primary concern

Consider carefully: Radiesse is a thicker product than most hyaluronic acid fillers and is not recommended for superficial placement or areas with thin skin that is prone to irregularities, such as the tear trough or lips. These areas are assessed at consultation

Not appropriate: Radiesse is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, for clients with active skin infections or inflammatory conditions in the treatment area, or those with bleeding disorders. Clients with severe allergies should disclose this at consultation

Not reversible: because Radiesse cannot be dissolved, it is essential that clients understand the product will gradually resorb naturally over twelve to eighteen months but cannot be removed by injection. This is discussed at every consultation before proceeding

Radiesse produces a visible result on the day of treatment as the CaHA gel provides immediate structural support. Some swelling and mild bruising are common in the first 24 to 48 hours and the final settled result becomes visible within one to two weeks as these resolve. Not reversible: technique and placement are critical
Radiesse cannot be dissolved once injected. This is the most important consideration for any client evaluating it against hyaluronic acid options. At Luxe, conservative dosing and conservative placement are the standard approach on every Radiesse session. We do not encourage clients to seek more volume than their anatomy supports, and a pre-treatment consultation is required before every first session.

A prescription procedure with physician oversight
Radiesse is a prescription injectable in Canada. All treatments at Luxe are administered by a registered nurse under a client-specific order with a physician present in the facility and available for consultation throughout the appointment, in compliance with BCCNM standards of practice. Sessions typically take 30 to 45 minutes. A $100 deposit is required at booking and applied to your treatment cost on the day.
