Sculptra is a Health Canada-authorized injectable biostimulator made from poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible synthetic polymer that the body gradually absorbs over time. Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, which add immediate volume, Sculptra works by triggering a controlled collagen stimulation response in the deep dermis. The result is a gradual improvement in skin volume, firmness, and quality that develops over several weeks to months and can last up to two years in appropriate candidates. What makes Sculptra different from a traditional filler
Sculptra does not add volume directly. It stimulates your body to produce its own collagen in the area where it is injected, rebuilding the structural support that diminishes with age. Understanding this distinction is important for setting realistic expectations before treatment.

Who is and is not a candidate for Sculptra
Sculptra is most effective in clients with gradual volume loss and reduced skin quality who want a natural-looking, progressive result. It is not the right treatment for every client or every concern.

Good candidates: clients with mild to moderate facial volume loss in the mid-face, temples, or lower face; clients who have previously had hyaluronic acid fillers and want a longer-lasting structural approach; clients seeking overall skin quality improvement with the hyperdiluted protocol

Consider carefully: clients with very thin or crepey skin in the treatment area may be at higher risk of visible nodule formation if PLLA is not evenly distributed. This is discussed at your consultation

Not appropriate: Sculptra is not suitable for clients who are pregnant or breastfeeding, those with active skin infections or inflammatory skin conditions in the treatment area, or clients with a history of severe or multiple allergies or anaphylaxis. Clients with autoimmune conditions should disclose this at consultation

Not for immediate results: clients who need a result before an event within four to six weeks are better served by hyaluronic acid fillers, which provide immediate correction. Sculptra requires time to work and is not appropriate as a last-minute treatment

A series of sessions, not a single treatment
Most clients require two to four Sculptra sessions spaced six to eight weeks apart for the full collagen stimulation effect to develop. The number of vials used per session depends on the treatment area and the degree of volume loss, which is assessed at your consultation. Results build progressively between sessions and continue developing for up to three months after the final session as new collagen matures.

Sculptra produces a different kind of result to traditional fillers. There is no immediate volume visible after injection. All treatments at Luxe Aesthetics Loft are administered under a client-specific order with a physician present in the facility and available throughout the appointment, in compliance with standards of practice.
